In the cool dark of night, the train thrums through the distance, and though you’re tucked in bed, you imagine the soft sway, the blur of lights flashing by, each window a small world of its own. The clackety-clack of the wheels echoes in the quiet, steady and rhythmic, a sound that carries through the stillness. You feel the loneliness, the train rushing through towns, fields, and the edges of sleep, as people inside chase the night toward home. You smile in the darkness, content to let it pass, the rhythm of the wheels lulling a deeper sleep, glad that tonight, you're already there.
